A research study in Tunisian schools

Move a little. Weave something of your own.

Twelve weeks of short activities — moving, thinking, feeling, making things, and doing them with others. Each one you finish weaves a motif into a rug that belongs to you.

The study has not started yet. Taking part will be by invitation.

A rug of twelve weeks, one row a week. Week 6 is plain: a quiet week is part of the rug, not a hole in it.

Three places, twelve weeks

The quest crosses Tunisia, from the cork-oak forests of the north to the ksour of the south. Each act is a place, and four weeks long.

  1. Kroumirie

    Weeks 1–4

    Act I — The Awakening

Starting, and starting small. The activities are short, and nobody is watching.

  2. Sidi Bou Said

    Weeks 5–8

    Act II — The Momentum

Finding a rhythm of your own — and a reason to come back, which is often somebody else.

  3. The ksour of the south

    Weeks 9–12

    Act III — The Monster

Choosing for yourself, and facing the doubt together, as a class.

Five kinds of activity, five motifs

Moving is one of them, not the only one. A week of different things weaves a richer row.

  • movement
  • thinking
  • feeling
  • together
  • making

What MoveQuest never does

The rules the whole app is built on — for the young people who use it, and for the ethics committee that approves it.

  • No scores to compare

Nobody sees a ranking, and there is none to see. There are no points on any screen.

  • Nothing about your body

The app never talks about it — not to praise it, not to judge it.

  • No streaks to lose

A week you miss is a plain row, the way real rugs have them. Nothing breaks.

  • Your choice, always

Taking part is voluntary. You can stop at any time, without having to say why.

For schools and researchers

MoveQuest is the tool of a cluster randomised trial run with Tunisian schools. Classes take part together; the research team works in the Lab, a separate space for the adults running the study.

Staff sign in
  • Consent before anything

A parent or guardian's consent and the pupil's own agreement are recorded before a single activity opens.

  • Codes, not names

Researchers see a code for each pupil. Seeing who it is takes a deliberate step, and every one is recorded.

  • A second factor for every adult

Staff accounts need a code from an authenticator app, and every reading of a pupil's measurements is recorded.
